Work Commences On Luxury New City Centre Hotel

GMI Construction is working to an 18 month schedule on the 10 storey, 90 bedroom luxury hotel which forms part of Evans 20 million pound investment plans for the Bond Court area of Leeds. The first phase of the investment was completed late last year with the extensive refurbishment programmes on neighbouring office buildings, Minerva and Capitol, to create over 50,000 sq ft of Grade A office space.

At the hotel site, Leeds City Council granted planning permission for the demolition of the former stacker decommissioned car park and adjacent restaurant to make way for the new hotel.

In addition to the new hotel and offices, Evans is also working closely with Leeds City Council to deliver important public realm works in order to ensure the comprehensive regeneration of the whole area.

Alan Syers, Portfolio Director at Evans Property Group, said; Last year saw the office transformations complete at Minerva and Capitol, delivering some much-needed Grade A space to the city at a time when shortage is at an all-time high. It is incredibly exciting to be starting on site at the hotel which is an integral part of the whole Bond Court regeneration.

Andy Bruce, Managing Director of GMI Construction, said; Following on from our recent work on the Capitol office building for Evans, we are delighted to be working with the team again to deliver another important piece of the Bond Court transformation. The design and prominence of the hotel will make it an excellent addition to the Leeds leisure offering and we are looking forward to bringing it to life.
