Temple Green secures BP garage deal
CJ Stern is a Yorkshire-based operator expanding its operations within the region with the acquisition of a 1.2 acre plot at Temple Green. The site has outline consent and, subject to reserved matters, will incorporate a BP petrol filling station with 3 HGV and 4 vehicle pumps along with a 2,000 sq ft Spar convenience store. Around 10 full and part time jobs could be created upon opening of the operation.
Subject to detailed planning, work will start on site before the end of the year, with the facility operational in Summer 2017. Colliers represented Temple Green in the transaction.
This announcement comes as the initial 7m phase of infrastructure works nears completion at the 165 acre site at J45 of the M1 in Leeds Enterprise Zone. The works have created 1.2 km of new dual carriageway and facilitated the remediation of 20 acres of development plots to include the petrol filling station in addition to roadside car dealerships and Leeds City Councils 1000 space Park and Ride transport hub.
CJ Stern director, Nazir Musa, said; We are pleased to have secured this strategic plot at Temple Green to facilitate our continued company growth. As the largest commercial development site in Leeds and with the forthcoming delivery of the Park and Ride hub, this presented the ideal location to establish a new operation. We are looking forward to progressing with planning in order to start works on site.
James Pitt, Development Director of Evans Property Group, said; We are delighted to welcome an established operator for the petrol filling station site ahead of completion of the initial infrastructure works. There has been increasing interest in the roadside plots adjacent to the Park and Ride interchange due to their gateway positioning off J45 M1 and visibility from theA63.
Ian Ball, Executive Director of Income Generation at Harworth Estates, continued; With a delivery programme of around 12 months on occupational requirements, we are now conducting discussions with a range of potential manufacturing and distribution occupiers seeking to be part of one of the most significant logistics development sites in the North. The petrol filling station forms an important part of the overall offering at Temple Green and we are pleased to have concluded this deal.
Appointed agents on Temple Green are CBRE, Dove Haigh Phillips and Gent Visick. Enquiries relating to the car dealership plots on Phase 1 should be made to John Roberts of Colliers International.
