Planning submitted to create new Leeds community

Skelton Gate is located to the east of Junction 45 of the M1. The proposals seek to bring forward 1100 new homes to address the Council�s housing requirement, which seeks to deliver a minimum of 6,500 new homes within the Aire Valley by 2028. Skelton Gate is already identified as a proposed housing allocation within the draft Aire Valley Area Action Plan.

In addition to the creation of much-needed new family and affordable homes, the application intends to provide supporting community benefits including education provision, a foodstore and local centre. New areas of landscaped open green public space are set to be created along with the retention and enhancement of existing woodland belts. Improvements are proposed to the surrounding road network along with the implementation of pedestrian and cycle links to ensure maximum sustainable accessibility to and around the site.

The Aire Valley area of Leeds is undergoing a renaissance of regeneration with significant investment into the Enterprise Zone to the west of the site where major ground and infrastructure works are well underway on the �96M Temple Green development, which will include Leeds City Council�s Park and Ride transport interchange to connect the area with the heart of Leeds City Centre.
