Northern Futures debated in Leeds
Northern Futures, a one day conference held on Thursday 6th November provided a chance for local government, businesses, academics and policy experts of the north to come together to debate and discuss how a prosperous and competitive northern economy can be established.
Hosted by the Deputy Prime Minister the Rt Hon Nick Clegg MP, the conference included key note addresses from Jim O�Neill, Chairman of the Cities Growth Commission and former Chief Economist at Goldman Sachs. The summit brought together participants from those charged with leading northern cities, to the businesses driving their economies, and the young people who will shape them in the future to discuss a new vision for the north of England.
As the strategic organisation responsible for attracting inward investment into Leeds City Region, Leeds and Partners welcomes the potential outcomes from this debate and supports the themes discussed at the Northern Futures summit.
Our focus remains on delivering a transformational investment approach that will drive sustainable economic growth, create jobs and help to maximise the potential of the Leeds City Region as a northern growth powerhouse with global reach.
Following the launch of the Northern Futures project, launched by the Deputy Prime Minister at the Power. Performance. Potential. International Economic Conference held in Leeds as part of the Grand Depart International Business Festival, the city has once again welcomed business and political leaders to debate the future of the economy in the North.
