Leeds City Region shows its strengths in Washington

The Leeds delegation included representatives from law firms, the Leeds City Region Enterprise Partnership (LEP) and the Department for International Trade. The Leeds lawyers aimed to showcase the increasing confidence in the city region�s legal sector, with firms such as Addleshaw Goddard, Gateley, Shulmans and Squire Patton Boggs investing in new office developments in the city.

David Shepherd, head of trade and investment at the LEP, said: ""As the largest workforce and business base outside London, it's no surprise that Leeds City Region is a world class market for legal services.

The LEP added that the area is attracting more enquiries from international law firms, typically large US firms with a presence in the City of London, looking to establish office space outside of the capital. Their requirements range from high quality legal work to paralegal support.

The Leeds delegation to Washington DC was also supported by the Law Society of England and Wales and the Bar Council of England and Wales, in addition to the Department for International Trade and the LEP.
