Leeds City Region launches global powerhouse programme of activity for MIPIM 2016
The UKs largest City Region outside of London and the South East, with a GVA of 60.5 billion, will take the opportunity presented by the worlds leading property and investment forum to examine the smart cities agenda, the impact of high-speed rail on business growth and unveil new plans for Western Europe's largest regeneration site.
The City Regions attendance at MIPIM this year is being backed by its largest private sector delegation to date, with both national and international organisations such as Arup, Bilfinger GVA, Savills, Arcadis and Addleshaw Goddard endorsing its presence and Leeds City Region Enterprise Partnerships (The LEPs) vision of transforming the regional economy for the benefit of the country.
The delegation will also include representatives from across the City Regions local authorities, who will set out the confidence and potential of the region by highlighting the examples of regeneration and development that have recently been delivered and are currently on site, in a bid to secure investment, development and occupier interest.
Roger Marsh OBE, Chair of The LEP, commented: MIPIM 2016 is about showing that we as a City Region have much to offer international investors, developers and occupiers. Whats more we have a track record of success, with developments such as MEPCs Wellington Place, Scarborough Group Internationals Thorpe Park Leeds and Westfields The Broadway Shopping Centre, all having benefitted from international investment and are now helping unlock further growth.
This years programme of activity has been designed to capitalise on the international platform which MIPIM offers to highlight the impact Leeds City Region is having on tomorrows world, today.
James Dipple, Chief Executive of MEPC who is developing Wellington Place in Leeds, added: The last 12 months have seen the attitude in the market evolve, now more and more occupiers, investors and developers are recognising the potential of the regions and are excited by the opportunities being unlocked.
Im pleased to act as an advocate for Leeds City Region and that MEPC and Wellington Place are working closely with Leeds City Region Enterprise Partnership. Together we must make the most of the opportunities of the Northern Powerhouse and of the property sectors now un-blinkered view to the regions outside of the M25. The City Region has a positive attitude to doing business, ensuring that key decision makers are available when required and offers access to a pipeline of talent both already in work and currently studying.
