Leeds City Region gets some Extra support for MIPIM 2016

Motorway Service Area investor and operator Extra MSA Group, developers Harworth Estates and Bruntwood, agents Savills, and consultants Curtins have all recently confirmed their support for the City Regions presence at the international property and development forum and exhibition. The firms join headline sponsor Thorpe Park Leeds, a joint venture by Scarborough Group and Legal and General Capital in supporting the regions growth agenda.

The City Regions activity during the forum and exhibition will be focused on a programme of panel discussions and breakfast briefings around smart growth for the region. The series of events will emphasise the market confidence and highlight why the time is right to invest in and locate to the region. Leeds City Region will also contribute to a collaborative Northern Powerhouse strand that is being developed in conjunction with the core cities of the north of England.

Roger Marsh OBE, Chair of Leeds City Region Enterprise Partnership (The LEP), commented: The property sector across the City Region has experienced a real renaissance over the last 12 months, with new developments, deals and occupier announcements making headlines on an almost daily basis. The cranes on our skyline are tangible evidence that Leeds City Region is an attractive investment location.

Im delighted that Extra MSA Group, Bruntwood, Savills, Curtins and Harworth Estates have joined our delegation which is now more than 50% bigger than the one I and Chief Executives from across the region led in 2015. MIPIM this year provides a real opportunity for our delegation to take advantage of the market buoyancy and showcase its combined ambitions to rebalance the UK economy by highlighting that the City Region is an economic powerhouse that can rival international competitors.

Andrew Long, CEO at Extra MSA Group added: Extra MSA Group is well advanced with its exciting plans for a major 50m investment into Leeds, with a world-class new concept Motorway Service Area development at M1 J45. This will reflect the high ambitions and expectations of this fantastic City Region, as well as making a significant contribution to Road Safety for the safe and efficient use of the Regions Motorway Network. As part of the Leeds City Regions MIPIM 2016 programme, we are pleased to be working jointly with Leeds City Council and Leeds City Region LEP to use this platform to highlight the high standards of development and operation that can be imminently delivered as a complete package by Extra.

Craig Burrow, Region Director at Bruntwood, concluded: ""We are delighted to be joining the Leeds City Region delegation at MIPIM this year in what is a very exciting time. With significant development activity onsite and in the pipeline, the recent HS2 recommendation, along with the Northern Powerhouse initiative, Leeds and the wider City Regions profile as a business destination is thriving.

With work now underway on City House and 3 Sovereign Square, our two new developments in Leeds city centre, it is an important year for us and I look forward to seeing and supporting the city and region being represented internationally.""
