Google announce new investment in Leeds
The Leeds Garage, a pop-up space based in Leeds Dock will open on March 30 as part of a six month pilot initiative designed to encourage businesses to become more digital savvy. Small businesses and aspiring entrepreneurs will be invited to attend events organised by local partners and take advantage of one-to-one mentoring sessions.
The �Digital Garage� will be the first of its kind in the UK and is part of Google�s commitment to train one million Europeans to learn digital skills by 2016 which includes building an online training hub to support businesses anywhere in Europe continue their learning through training online.
The Leeds part of the project has been developed in partnership with Leeds City Council, Leeds City Region Enterprise Partnership and is supported by the Confederation of British Industry, the Federation of Small Businesses and in partnership with Business is Great, Department for Business, Innovation & Skills.
Business owners and teachers in the Leeds area can sign up for workshops and events organised by Google and partners on digitalgarage.withgoogle.com
