Evans secures planning for 80 new homes

The redundant 9.6 acre site is located at the south western edge of the village of Tockwith, which is identified in the Council�s Core Strategy as a sustainable location capable of accommodating additional housing. The sensitively designed proposals aim to assist Harrogate Borough Council in continuing to meet its housing needs and will cover a broad mix of housing types and sizes to deliver a mixed and balanced community for Tockwith.

It is anticipated that some 120 new jobs could be created at the construction peak of the development.

Formerly part of Tockwith Airfield, the site is accessed off Southfield Lane and provides good pedestrian linkages to the centre of the village and its services. Evans Property Group�s proposals include provision for new areas of amenity and a series of green, recreation spaces for use by future residents.

The proposals have been designed to respect the local environment and make a positive economic contribution to the community through the associated investment brought about from development. Local community initiatives could also be supported through money raised via Council Tax revenue & the Government�s New Homes Bonus system.

Comments provided through the local consultation event highlighted a localised issue with uncontrolled parking along Southfield Lane in and around the Primary School during school drop-off and pick-up times. In order to formalise the current parking arrangements and to increase provision, the development also includes for a dedicated offsite parking area on the southern side of Southfield Lane opposite the School, providing additional benefits to road safety and local highway capacity.
