EMIS Group's strategy results in first half profit growth

In the six months to 30 June 2016, the Leeds based group increased adjusted operating profit from 16.9m to 17.7m, although pre-tax profit dropped from 13.5m to 12.2m.

Revenue for the period edged up by 1 per cent to 78.7m. The rate of growth was lower than in recent periods, but EMIS said this reflected a number of factors including a limited contribution from acquisitions and also revenue headwinds in NHS spending on hardware.

Overall the group's financial performance for the half year was said to be broadly in line with the board's expectations despite some ""unexpected external and internal challenges in the period"".

EMIS chief executive Chris Spencer said: ""Despite ongoing, post-referendum, political and economic uncertainty, the NHS continues to affirm EMIS Group's strategy of providing change-delivering digital technology helping to create faster, better, cheaper care.""
