Approval for 270,000 sq ft office space at Skipton development

The scheme located at Wyvern Park is being progressed by Henry Boot Developments.

Approximately 270,000 sq ft of employment space is included within the proposal alongside 225 homes, a new link to the bypass, additional landscaping and local green open space.

The 50-acre site was acquired in May 2012 from HSBC and is strategically located on the bypass, south west of Skipton town centre.

A report scrutinised by Craven District Council had recommended approval based on the employment benefits associated with the development which outweighed adverse impacts, particularly the development of a green field site adjacent to a conservation area.

Protected open views will be preserved around a cemetary located next to the scheme.

An earlier mixed-use development including a Sainsburys supermarket, hotel, public house and hot food takeaway was refused planning permission in April 2014 because of fears about its impact on Skipton town centre.

The Sainsburys and other uses had been included to help fund the infrastructure required for the business park.
