�80m development secures planning permission & investment

Tower Works is set to deliver a mixed-use development of 90,000sq ft of commercial office space, 16,000sq ft of A1 and A3 retail restaurant and bar spaces alongside a mix of residential accommodation and town houses. Central to the proposal is a cultural offer which converts the Grade II listed Engine House into a cinema and boutique brewery, and a new public piazza designed to link Holbeck Urban Village to the Leeds Liverpool canal and the new southern entrance to Leeds train station at Granary Wharf.

Gareth Jackson, Development Director for Carillion said: �The team worked closely with the council to ensure that the design response not only builds on the heritage and character of the area, but meets the needs of the people who will live and work at Tower Works. Half the development site is given over to pedestrian and public space, so it will play a vital role in the connection of Holbeck Urban Village to the centre of Leeds and future transport hubs.�

Richardsons Capital LLP, part of the Canadian owned James Richardson & Sons Limited group, announced it will come on board as sole investment partner in the �80million scheme, paving the way for a start on site in late spring.

In November 2015, British fashion house Burberry announced that it will move its operations to the listed Temple Works site, further bolstering the credentials of Holbeck Urban Village as a place for both creativity and business.

Tower Works is being designed by architects Jestico + Whiles, landscape architects Oobe and engineering consultancy WSP. Planning consultancy services for the project have been managed by England Lyle & Good, cost consultancy advice by Sweetts and project management services by DBK.

Commercial agents Knight Frank and Sanderson Wetherall have been appointed alongside residential agents CRBE and Morgans, and retail and leisure agents Pudney Shuttleworth.

Construction is expected to complete in 2020.
