Huddersfield welcomes manufacturing delegation from Hubei
The University of Huddersfield played host to 20 government and business representatives from Hubei province.

A delegation led by Mr. Cheng Jiagang, Director of Organization Department of Xiangyang Municipal Committee, visited the 3MBIC at the University of Huddersfield on 15th October 2015. This 20-person delegation is from the Human Resource Department of the Hubei Provincial Government, responsible for the human resource management, development, and administration of state-owned enterprises in the province. The delegation is visiting the UK on a training programme to learn about UK’s economy, our manufacturing and creative industries, and human resource development. They are visiting London, Edinburgh, and Leeds City Region during their 2-week programme.
The visit offered key Leeds City Region stakeholders a chance to meet a delegation from Hubei Province, which included senior representatives of Chinese state-owned enterprises businesses currently only operating within China and now looking to explore the potential of the UK regions. The delegation would like to explore the possibilities for future collaboration possibilities, using this exchange as an initial contact.
The delegation was welcomed to Huddersfield by Professor Andrew Ball, Pro Vice Chancellor (Research and Enterprise), Professor Liz Towns Andrews, Director of Research and Enterprise, 3MBIC, and David Smith, Director of Resources, Kirklees Council.
The delegation heard speeches from local business and government leaders including: Paul Sutcliffe, Technical Development Chemist, Surfachem, Prof Graham Leslie, Professor of Enterprise & Entrepreneurship (formally of Galpharm International), and Michelle Burton, Skills Policy Lead, Leeds City Region Enterprise Partnership.
