Tracsis is a leading provider of software, hardware, data analytics, Geographical Information Systems (GIS) and services for the rail, traffic data and wider transport industries. 550 employees work in locations across UK, Ireland and USA. Much of the Tracsis earth observatory solutions are run through the location insights business within Tracsis, Compass Informatics.
They use location technologies and analytics to assist government and commercial organisations to deliver more efficient operations, protect their assets and meet regulatory requirements. They achieve this using tools including GIS, earth observation, analytics, and IT systems development.
In the earth observation sphere, Compass Informatics currently leads a partnership in design and delivery of the Area Monitoring System for Ireland. This exciting new system monitors and validates agricultural land use and farmer payments under the EU Common Agricultural Policy.
Compass Informatics works closely with water companies in the UK and provides a platform to run bioresources businesses, facilitating safe and sustainable reuse of biosolids in agriculture.
The main focus of our technology is to obtain precise and high quality data in a particular geographical location to provide far greater knowledge of a particular environment and the factors impacting it.
On behalf of Ireland’s Heritage Council, Compass Informatics operated the National Biodiversity Data Centre, the national biological records centre for Ireland that also participates in the Global Biodiversity Information Facility. Compass Informatics also works with the South African National Biodiversity Institute to design tools for management and sharing of biodiversity information and spatial data across multiple stakeholders within South Africa.
