Indian firm Advatech, a diagnostics company, has announced it will open a new centre in Leeds to provide both the NHS and private health providers with diagnostic tests following a recent UK-India trade visit.
Kolkata-based Advatech will work with Nationwide Pathology on the centre which will concentrate on genetic testing and regular pathology tests such as blood tests for screening.
The venture was established following bioConclave, an event which promoted the huge opportunities for UK and Indian health and biotech companies, as well as business to business meetings within Leeds City Region.
Dr Bala Raju, Advatech's medical director, said: "Advatech operate a number of diagnostic labs in India, tying up with some of its world-class diagnostics centres including Suraksha and SRL Religare.
"As a result of the match-making to relevant local businesses that the bioConclave team and the Leeds City Region Enterprise Partnership were able to facilitate, we are delighted to announce our first centre in the UK."
