Point of Care Diagnostics - Open Innovation Workshop
Dates: 20 Jul — 24 Jul
Time: 8:15am — 8:15am
The Yorkshire and Humber Academic Health Science Network is partnering with the University of Bradford to deliver an International Open Innovation Workshop on Point of Care Diagnostics (POCD).
The workshop will be held in Tianjin between the 20th and 24th July 2015 and presents a unique opportunity for UK SMEs within the POCD sector to engage with partners in China, access development funding and create opportunities in the Chinese market.
About the WorkshopThe proposed focus of the Point of Care Diagnostics (POCD) Workshop in July 2015 will be on technologies to enhance and impact of POCD on frontline care delivery. In addition, it will look to increase the impact of POCD through bringing together experts from across the field and generating product development and commercialisation opportunities. The workshop will focus on creating projects capable of realising a commercial return (either through sale or out-licensing) inside four years, and as such will focus more on the application and development of known solutions rather than fundamental research.
What does the application process look like?UK SMEs are invited to complete an application to attend the Open Innovation Workshop. Applications will then be reviewed by the AHSN and University of Bradford before 12 successful SMEs are selected. Once identified, the UK SMEs will receive an information and briefing pack providing information on next steps.
What are the costs involved? The AHSN will contribute £750 towards the cost of travel to China and local travel, accommodation and workshop attendance costs will be met by our Chinese hosts.
Participating organisations will be expected to absorb costs relating to visa applications and incidental costs on the trip. The AHSN is investing in the overall management of the programme and ongoing support to participating SMEs. This investment from the AHSN is ultimately designed to enable growth and create investment opportunity for UK plc in the health sector.
